We like to compare ourselves to the evolution of credit card authorizations. Remember when you used to have to phone in to the credit card company to get an authorization, manually take an imprint, give a copy to the customer and keep a copy for yourself? Then the next day you had to deposit the credit card slips in the bank to receive payment.
